Since I found out that I was pregnant, I have been trying to enhance the good things in my life and avoid the negative. Such things in life are impossible to avoid alltogether such as stress in your life, (unless you go on a tropical vacation for the whole 9 months) and cleaning products (unless your hubby wants to play “Molly Maid” for you) but moderation is the key - One of the best reasons for you to plan your pregnancy (rather than having it happen by accident) is so that you can have control of all of the different factors starting from conception.
Healthy pregnancy care
Here is a list of tips of what you should do during pregnancy:
- You should talk to your doctor about existing conditions and your family history

- You should focus on your child and avoid negative thoughts and actions
- You should take prenatal vitamins
- You should eat plenty of protein
- You should eat well and get plenty of exercise.
- You should get regular medical exams
- You should get the RDA (Reccomended Daily Allowance) for folic acid
- You should use house plants
- You should take care when traveling
- You should be sure to get enough fat in your diet
- You should do kegal exercises
Here is a list of tips of what you should not do during pregnancy:
- You should not drink alcohol
- You should not smoke or be around people who do
- You should not take prescription drugs or over the counter drugs, including aspirin, unless told to do so by your doctor
- You should avoid caffeine
- You should avoid vitamin A supplements
- You should avoid stress
- You should not use a water bed, microwave, or an electric blanket
- You should not expose yourself to pesticides
- You should avoid fumes from paint, paint thinner, household cleaning products and so on
- You should watch your consumption of fish, especially canned tuna
- You should avoid x-rays
- You should not use a sauna, hot tub or take long hot baths
- You should avoid cleaning cat litter boxes
- You should avoid contact with reptiles
- You should avoid uncooked meat
- You should avoid drinking tap water if possible
- You should avoid hot dogs
- You should avoid tick bites
- You should not take illegal drugs
- You should not eat junk food (or at least try to cut down)
Some of the items listed here (such as avoiding microwaves and electric blankets, fish, etc.) are controversial. Some studies have shown they are dangerous, others not. The list is pretty extreme, and hard to follow to a “t”. I have been doing my research, asking my doctor and deciding if the risks outweigh the benefits.
