our beautiful StefaniaBaby Stefania is now 2 weeks old.  It was pretty hectic the first little while, but we are all feeling more settled now and life feels normal again:)  It feels like our baby has been with us all the time, and that she is meant to be here.  Breastfeeding was a challenge in the beginning, but its a lot better now, and she is gaining the appropriate amount of weight.  She had lost about 10 percent of her body weight at the hospital so we were very worried.  She was fed some formula at the hospital but ever since she’s been home it’s only been breast milk.  She’s been waking up about 3 times a night for feeding and diaper changing.  Cos has been a great help.  Last night he bottle fed her with my pumped breast milk.  He said that her eyes were wide open and very alert.  She is not falling asleep that easily when I breast feed her anymore and my milk has been coming in a lot more lately so we are all very happy about that.  The only thing that makes us a bit nervous is bath time, but so far so good.

My water broke today!

My water broke this morning at 6am!  I called the locum Dr. for Dr. Wong and he told me to got to the hospital.  He came around an hour later, examined me and told me that it definetely did break.  Now we are back home, its 10am and it’s the waiting game for Cos and I.  Im feeling so many emotions right now, fear, excitement, anticipation, worrisome.  When we were waiting for the dr. to come to the hospital, we actually heard someone pushing and giving birth, then they announced that it was a girl.  I can hardly wait for that moment to come for us.  If I don’t feel any contractions before 6pm tonight, then we will have to go to the hospital and get induced.  If I’m feeling contractions any time that are 3-5 minutes apart and last about 45-50 seconds long, then we will have to go right away.  Well guess this is the last time I will be writing in my blog before I give birth.  Now back to laundry, unloading the dishes from the dishwasher, and resting!  Bye for now!!

busy 10 days..

A lot has happened since I last wrote in my blog.  My sister had a surpise baby shower for me..well kind of a surprise..LOL  she dropped a few hints before I arrived at her house for the party so that I wouldn’t get scared and harm the baby.  The shower was great and I got a lot of cute things for the baby.  The shower was July 2 and guess what happened a week later on July 9?, the day after Cos’s brother’s wedding?…Italy won the soccer world cup!!!  Commercial drive was nuts!!, people started lining up at coffee bars to watch the game way in advance, and the party afterwards was crazy. We watched the game at Cos’s parents house with them and his aunt and uncle from Italy.  Cos and I went down to Commercial Drive 3 times- before the game started, right after they won, and the last time we went that night was with my sister and neice and nephew.  We had a lot of fun honking and going up and down commercial drive with Cos’s truck decorated with flags, balloons and streamers.  It was a very memorable day, close call for Italy and I am so happy that all the Italians can relax now.  5 days left til my due day, my doc comes back in 6..yikes..I met the Doctor that may be delivering my baby if my doctor isn’t here yet.  He looks very young..but oh well, hes only there to catch the baby anyway!

World Cup

Commercial Drive was nuts yesterday because Italy defeated the Ukraine in soccer.  We watched the game at Cos’s parents house and then later on went to the drive to join in the festivities.  There are 6 teams remaining now..Italy, Germany, England, Portugal, Brazil and France.  Italy plays Germany this Tuesday, and I’m looking forward to it.  It would be cool if our baby is born the same year that Italy wins the World Cup!  We will have to buy a Jersey for him or her when its born :)  We also went to our Dr’s appointment yesterday morning and we found out that my doc will be taking 2 weeks vacation and coming back on July 16..our due date!  I told him to be prepared if he gets an emergency call at the airoport…hahaha  There will be another doctor taking over when hes gone..who knows? Will it be early, late or right on time!?, I guess we will find out soon!!on commercial drive

I had the worst leg cramp this morning….ouch!!!  I woke Cos up at 6 am.  Normally it goes away when I stretch out my leg, but it didn’t this time, so Cos had to massage it:).  Maybe the harsh cramp is preparing me for the more severe pain of labour that I will feel in a month.  Wow…another 4 weeks to go..I can’t wait! Here is a pic of the bugaboo stroller we got.  We went a little crazy and got the blue base with orange top! It’s nice and vibrant and so easy to manuever around.  And if we wanted to we can always buy different colors or exchange the top color for something else once the baby is born. Here is a recent pic of my belly :)  Our love birds seem to be fascinated by my bumps these days!its growing!!

Cos has been doing a great job with our landscape in the backyard.  So far he cut out two half cirlces and planted some nice plants in them.  He is now in the process of digging out another section.  We are thinking of planting a seed somewhere on the day the baby is born so the plant and our kid can grow together and we can tell our child when its older what we did.  My mom planted some tomato plants for us and they are also growing..yum yum.  I am getting restless sitting at my desk these days, so I have been trying to keep busy with other stuff.  Im gonna go help Cos and my mom outside now.  Audios for now! our backyard in progress

5 more weeks to go until our due date!  I can feel my stomach growing as I type..lol.  Last night was Cos’s cousins son’s 1st birthday, he is so cute. Seeing him play and have fun was making me have bouts of anticipation for the birth of our new arrival.  We saw our baby again during our second ultrasound in the beginning of this month.  It was really neat because we got to see the face as well.  As soon as the technician said that we couldn’t see the baby’s face cause it was turned the other way, all of a sudden the baby turned its head and there it was….a miniature version of Cos’s face, chubby cheeks and all, so cute! It looked like the baby was looking right at us. We have so many names picked out but not sure what we will be going with.  Girls names are a lot easier…Angelica, Stefania, Mikayla, Alyssa, Domenic, and Matteo are a few names that we like.  Maybe we will wait and see when the baby is born and decide at that time.

Here is a pic of the 2nd ultrasound…I can see the head and the upper body and even the face.  People think im nuts, but I swear I can see it..lol  The face and upper body is on the left hand side.

Prenatal class today

We had our prenatal class today which was from 9am to 4pm at the hospital.  Our instructor was very informative and it went by pretty fast.  We watched 2 videos, the second one was pretty graphic, but I could handle it.  It’s funny, before I was pregnant I couldn’t even watch the Baby Show on TLC, and now I am hooked.  When we got home we thought Cos had lost his wallet so we searched for it for about 1/2 hour looking everywhere.  We kept going back from the house to the car.  Cos decided to go back to the parking attendant at the hospital because thats where he last physically handled his wallet and then he did some positive thinking and searched his car again.  Low and behold he found it…in the strangest place I may add.  It was lodged in between the opening of the cup holder.  Beats me how he found it.  He told me that he mentally said that he was gonna find it and he did.  Must be that website that he’s reading.  It’s a great site, if anyone needs some motivation or positive thinking in their life then you should definetely check it out.  Click here for the website Here are some pics of Cos working and taking a nap after a very long day today:

Getting ready for baby

The baby crib is almost set up!  My sis brought over the remaing pieces to assemble it today and we will probably put the rest of it together sometime this week.  It’s a basic white crib set which my neice and nephew used when they were babies, and it looks really cute in the room.  Cos and I looked at baby strollers over the weekend and we love the Bugaboo.  It can do so many things and you can customize the colours of it as well.  We probably should buy it very soon, cause its gonna take just a month to figure out all of its options!  Busy and exciting times ahead.  Only 7 weeks left to go!!  Oh, Cos finally had a chance to “really” feel the baby kick today.  They were the strongest kicks that I have felt so far and feeling them kind of scared the both of us…lol
